We've Met Many a Princess Since 1937

Disney's vast collection of 812 films dates back to the release of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in 1937, and we've met many princesses in this world of magical stories, but not all are official Disney Princesses.

Only 13 Are Official Princesses

According to Disney, their official princess are Ariel, Moana, Aurora, Rapunzel, Merida, Jasmine, Cinderella, Snow White, Pocahontas, Belle, Raya, Tiana, and Mulan. There have been other princess characters in Dinsey movies, but these ar the ones that get the nod as far as being “official” Disney Princesses.

When it comes to which classic Disney princess movie the nation searched for the most this past year, the winner is none other than “Beauty and the Beast.”

According to Google US searches it receives an average of 368,000 Google searches a month!

There are two other princesses in the top of search results, but “Beauty and the Beast” saw a remarkable surge in interest, with a whopping 22% increase year over year. It seems that the timeless tale of Belle and the Beast continues to capture the hearts of Disney enthusiasts across the country.

Two More Beloved Princesses Tie for Second

The competition is fierce in the realm of Disney princesses. Tied for second place with just as many hits are the beloved “Frozen” and “Cinderella.” These two classics have maintained their popularity, each receiving a significant share of the spotlight.

Following closely behind Frozen and Cinderella is “The Princess and the Frog” with 135,000 searches. This is a giant surge in interest with the new release coming up in 2024.
